The Oud is a traditional Middle Eastern string instrument known for its deep, warm, and expressive tone. With its pear-shaped body and short neck, the Oud is considered the ancestor of the modern lute and guitar. It is fretless, allowing for a rich variety of microtonal expressions that define Arabic and Levantine music.

At Bethlehem Academy of Music, students learn the art of Oud playing through both classical technique and improvisation. The instrument encourages musical sensitivity and is ideal for students interested in deepening their connection with Arabic musical heritage.
