The Qanun is a zither-like instrument with a trapezoidal shape, played on the lap or a flat surface. It features a large number of strings, typically 81, and is known for its bright and resonant sound. Tuning levers allow performers to shift scales quickly, making it a cornerstone of traditional Arabic music.

Our students explore the Qanun’s melodic richness while building finger strength and coordination. Instruction focuses on both traditional pieces and modern compositions, enabling students to master its intricate techniques and dynamic range.
